If you haven’t met him yet, I would like to introduce Giuseppe Parra to you.
Giuseppe is a 20-year-old Venezuelan who escaped horrible persecution in his country and is now seeking asylum in the United States. He is a delightful energetic young man who longs to live in our country.
Giuseppe was recently paroled from Stewart Detention Center and was released to Columbia Presbyterian Church as his sponsor.
Giuseppe now lives in the Sanctuary bedroom of Columbia Presbyterian Church while he awaits his asylum hearing. While he lives in the church, he will begin taking ESL (English as a Second Language) classes in early November and GED classes to obtain his U.S. high school equivalency diploma early next year.
